A front room in the farmhouse felt awkward before it was turned into a casual seating area by pairing a Victorian pullout couch with an antique headboard. A green wire vegetable cart finds new life as a storage unit for European linens and breadboards.

An antique medical tray serves as a bedside table, while a letterpress block and pieces of architectural salvage spell out the couple's initials above the bed. The chair is upholstered in German grain sacks.

Family Roots

As a surprise for the homeowner's birthday, her husband built a bench for their entry from hand-carved beams salvaged from a collapsed barn on her family farm. The baskets and sign are flea market, crafts fair, and online finds. Friends sewed the pillow covers from feed sacks.
